The VW Golf R remains mostly unchanged from the previous model year and now has a single trim level. If you go with the six-speed manual, you'll still have impressive acceleration that lets you reach 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The Golf R offers a number of selectable drive modes including a special Drift mode that's a fun to play with, allowing you to perform tail-sliding acrobatics on slick surfaces. Will all this performance cost you a lot at the pump? Thankfully, no. The automatic can give you up to 30 MPG on Perkasie highways and the manual is capable of up to 28 highway MPG.
